Arts Council funded research project with Graeme Hawes RCA: Glass Artist Craftsman.
These pieces are the result of a collaborative research project funded by the Arts Council.
McFarland worked with Hawes for 10 sessions, testing a territory between fine art and craft. The research was structured to allow for not knowing how the works might aesthetically develop to prevent the focus being on a finished product.
The intention was to prevent the arrival at any resolution or outcome until the last couple of sessions. The process was always the point of departure and each session dictated the start point for the next.
