Creative collaboration: Drawing DNA

A collaborative practice between visual artists Gillian McFarland & Ruth Singer in conversations with Professor Turi King in the School of Genetics . Together they explored the convergence of practices including a shared interest in stains and marks of time. The project was featured on BBC Inside Science by Dr Adam Rutherford on 11th May 2017.

Winners of the 44AD Exhibition Prize at Bath Arts Festival May 2017 they have recently undertaken joint research project work at the Hutton Institute, Dundee into Meiosis with Dr Isabelle Colas.

Collaborative practice involving visual artists Gillian McFarland & Ruth Singer.

Gillian & Ruth began working together in 2014 whilst sharing a studio. Together they explore the convergence of their individual practices including a shared interest in stains and marks of time.

The pair are currently Artists in Residence in the Genetics Department of Leicester University. The project was featured on BBC Inside Science on 11th May 2017.
